Default Guild Wars Crashing All The Time Since New RAM Install (Laptop)

I used to play Guild Wars on my laptop with only 256mb of DDR RAM installed & there were no problems. I then decided to upgrade my RAM to a 1gb stick of DDR for better performance. Well ever since upgrading I've been experiencing the "blue screen of death", constant crashes & weird things happening all the time. The funny thing is, it's only when I play Guild Wars.

I can't think why this is though as it ran fine with no crashes etc on a 256mb DDR stick so why all the trouble with a 1gb DDR stick?

My laptop is - Compaq Presario R3000: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...ang=en& cc=uk

I'd appreciate any help regarding this, thanks a lot.

Also, I'm not sure if this is any help or not but here's what the error report said when it last crashed, although they have been different every time

UPDATE: I just replaced the 1gb RAM stick with the 256mb RAM stick to make sure it actually WAS the RAM that was the problem and I've been playing GW for 15 mins with absolutely no crashes at all.

I'd think it was a faulty RAM stick but how can it be if it's fine when running things otehr than Guild Wars?

Also, I remember on one of the crashes I clicked "details" and it said something about "not being able to read from memory" or something similar. I'm not sure what this means, I just feel it may be of some significance to anybody trying to figure out this problem as it has the word "memory" in it. Oh & by the way, could it be the quality of the RAM? It was some really cheap unbranded value RAM I bought off eBay. I'm not sure whether this would make a difference or not but I'm just trying to provide as much info as possible.

I'll be checking up constantly so please keep me updated, thanks a lot.

Your gw.dat could be faulty. You could have just been lucky that no other program has had to use that specific sector of ram. Try running memtest.

Get Memtest from here: http://www.memtest.org/
It will tell you if your RAM is bad.

GW might use more ram or such. Your ram really could be faulty.
